In a little garden, there was a pea plant named Poppy. She felt very sad because she thought she wasn’t pretty. Her leaves were green, her flowers were small and white, and her pea pods were green too. All around her, the other plants looked so nice.
Ruby the rose had bright red petals. Sunny the sunflower was tall with a big, yellow face. Daisy the flower had soft white petals that looked so gentle. Poppy looked at them and said to a ladybug, “I’m not pretty like Ruby, or shiny like Sunny, or soft like Daisy.”
The ladybug said, “But Poppy, you’re special just the way you are!” Poppy didn’t believe her and said, “I’m just plain green.”
One day, a girl named Mia came to the garden with a basket. She saw Poppy and got so happy. “Wow! These peas look great!” she said. She picked a pod from Poppy, opened it, and saw the little green peas inside. She ate one and smiled, “Yum, so sweet!” Mia picked more peas and put them in her basket. “My mom will love these for her pea soup!” she said, and then she ran off, singing a little song. Poppy felt so happy inside. “She likes my peas!” she said.
The ladybug came back and said, “See, Poppy? You’re not just green. You’re yummy, and you make people happy. That’s your special beauty!”
Poppy looked at the garden again and felt proud. Ruby’s petals were pretty, but you couldn’t eat them. Sunny’s face was bright, but it couldn’t make soup.
Daisy’s petals were soft, but they couldn’t fill a basket. Poppy stood tall and said, “I’m Poppy, and I grow the best peas in the garden!” She was still green, and her flowers were still small, but she knew she was special in her own way.
Moral: Kids, being beautiful isn’t just about how you look. It’s about what you can do and how you make others happy. Everyone has something special that makes them great!
