This is the Pied Piper of Hamelin Short Story. There was a small town called Hamelin in Germany. There were so many rats. There were people troubled by rats and went to the mayor. Mayor has no plan to solve the problem.
Only then a person said to the mayor, “sir! I play the flute. I am a Pied Piper of Hamelin.
I have come to know that rats have been causing lots of trouble. I can take them from here but what will I get in return? “
Mayor said, “I will give you a thousand gold. The pied piper agreed.
On the road, Pied Piper started to tune his flute. Rats came away from every direction and walked behind him.
With his melodious flute, Pied Piper took all rats to the banks of the river. All rats drowned in water.
Now Pied Piper of Hamelin went to the Mayor to take his prize.
Mayor gave him a thousand silver coins.

Pied Piper was so angry that the Mayor didn’t complete his promise.
The angry pied piper quietly went out and started playing his second tune from the flute.
This time instead of rats, all the children in the city were hypnotized and started walking behind him. The flute took them to a hill and never appeared again.
Parents of all the children went to the Mayor office and told the whole incident. They were very angry at the Mayor as he didn’t give gold coins as per the promise. It’s your fault, Mayor.
Now go and get our children safely home.
After a few days, Pied Piper came again in the town alone.
Mayor said, Sorry! It was my fault. I cheated on you with gold coins.

Mayor handed him a 500 gold coin.
Pied Piper released all the children. The parents were very happy.
Pied Piper of Hamelin walked away happily with his 500 gold coins.
