This is the Iranian Sheikh and Tenali Raman Funny Story. Once An Iranian sheikh came to the kingdom of King Krishnadeva Raya as a Trader from the Middle Eastern country.
King Krishnadevaraya greeted the merchant with respect and arranged for food and drink for that merchant. Along with this, many facilities were also given to that Iranian sheikh.
One day, when the king’s cook served rasgullas(Indian Sweet) to Iranian sheikh to eat, the sheikh refused to eat rasgullas and asked the cook, what is the root of this rasgulla?
After hearing this, the kitchen got worried and told King Krishnadevaraya about it. Then Krishnadevaraya called Tenali Raman to find its answer.
When Tenali Raman called Raja Krishnadevaraya to locate the Rasgulla root, Tenali Raman accepted that offer and demanded a sharp knife and an empty bowl in front of the king. Tenali Raman said that I need a day to find the answer. The King agreed to Raman and gave him a day’s time.
Then the next day Tenali Ram stuffed the bowl with the roots of rasgullas and covered it with a muslin cloth.
Tenali presented the bowl in front of the Irani Sheikh sitting in the court and asked the sheikh to look at the root of rasgulla.
When the sheikh removed that muslin cloth, he saw pieces of sugarcane in that bowl.
The courtiers and Iranian businessmen were surprised to see this. Then the king was also presented there. The courtier and the Iranian Sheikh asked Tenali Raman what this means.
Cleverly Tenali Raman explained to everyone present there that rasgulla is made from sugar and if sugar is made up of sugarcane, then the root of rasgulla is also sugarcane. Hearing this answer from Tenali Ram, everyone started laughing and agreed with this answer.
